The Joke Page

...current sillyness...all original material

Q: What do you call it when an Indian squaw takes her baby on a long journey?

A: Forty days of papoose.

"Psst!! Hey--I spilled the Aunt Jemima--hand me a Kleenex," he whispered syrup-tissue-sly.

Q: What did the multicultural cowboy say?
A: Why can't we all just get along, little dogie?

New slogan for government program discouraging dieting:

"A waist is a terrible thing to mind."

Another name for Scotch Broth: Clan Chowder (Chloe, age 17)

Let's assume Grace Kelly still lives. She's overworked, overwrought, and in need of a break, but finances are tight. Her friend, singer Faith Hill, has compassion on her, and lends her enough money for Ms. Kelly to take a trip, all by herself, to recoup. Hence, what we have is nothing more than:

Just a vacation by Grace, alone, through Faith (a loan).

Britney Spears' recent antics make me think that she has developed a worldview which borrows heavily from Martin Luther: "If you're going to sin, sin baldly."

Q: What's the difference between a Middle Eastern dish and a shoddy apartment building?

A: One is lentils and rice, the other is rentals and lice.

Q: What's the difference between a poker player and a farmer?

A: The poker player reads 'em and weeps; the farmer weeds 'em and reaps.

A Post from the Past: Fourth of July Activities

Peter's birthday was on the third of July, so our family, along with Peter's friend Luke,

took a trip to our friends house in the country. We had a wonderful time hiking through

the woods, swimming in the pond, jumping on the trampoline, romping with our friends,

and shooting Peter's guns.

Peter watches Luke take a shot with his Mosin Nagant 1891/30 rifle.

Our gracious hostess, Catherine Clarke,

with her favorite piece of Classical Literature: Dr. Suess's Thidwick.

Olivia and Luther and the turtle that was found during a hike.

The birthday cake!

Rachel Clarke, age 12, takes a shot with a 22.

I, Ruby, take a shot with Peter's Mosin Nagant rifle.

A bountiful feast!

Daddy took some amazing shots of Peter jumping on the trampoline.

My personal favorite...

Sewing Projects

On the Clarke's recent visit, Rachel Clarke requested to be taught how to sew a dress. We made the daily trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics, and found some clearance fabric and pretty trims. Three cheers for Rachel for doing ALL of the sewing by herself!!!

Birthday Time!

Monday the 13th: Luther turns 5 years old.
Tuesday the 14th: Daddy turns...well, lets just say that he's a year older now :).

We tried combining the two celebrations this year. A trip to the zoo for Luther...

(L to R): Olivia, Ben Suster, Duncan, Gabriel, Megan Suster, Tirzah, Luther, Ruby, Chloe

Orchids :)

Granddaddy Orangutan (We asked Olivia beforehand which animal she was excited to see...her reply was "the Grandfathers". We weren't quite sure what this meant...until we reached the Orangutans.)

Mr. Giraffe (My neck gets tired holding my head up. I can't imagine my neck getting tired from holding my neck up!)

"Playing with Wolves"

Sleeping Beauty

Tigers or "Gagoos" (Duncan once named a stuffed tiger he had "Gagoo"...and so it has been ever since :). Funny how things stick. )

The Birthday Boy and Mother

...and a big Italian dinner for daddy. (We've decided that combining birthdays is hard because by the time Daddy's birthday came around, we felt like we should still do something even though the celebration in honor of the event had already taken place.)

They were both showered with gifts...

Ball-catching...

Bike-riding...

...and Book-reading

Daddy's gifts actually had something in common...

Fun with Words Part 3: Our Nation's Economy

Our nation's prosperity is due in large part to our support of a free-market economy. The success of the internet as a new source of commerce has been the latest evolution of said economics. Why, with eBay, you can quickly and conveniently purchase virtually anything, and, conversely, you can sell almost anything. In my humble opinion, this is because the success of eBay, as well as our addiction to garage sales, yard sales, and the like, demonstrates our support of what you could call a
flea-market economy...

Posted by Dad, who doesn't think he has fleas.
